To achieve these objectives, our sustainability strategy focuses on our key core pillars of People, Planet, Prosperity and Governance. Through these, Leonardo aims to transform and enrich the financial, human, operational and technological resources available to it, and is committed to the continuous improvement of our business practices, ensuring they are fair and consistent with our core values:

People

People drive our business forward. At Leonardo, we recognise that individually and collectively, the actions we take have a lasting impact on our environment. Sustainability and continuous improvement are essential for ongoing success, securing and innovating the future. We identify and invest in future skills and key technologies to better our local communities and ourselves.

Planet

Planet health is now an acknowledged crisis. Tackling climate change is a pressing concern for all of us and Leonardo is committed to reducing our environmental impact through cutting our carbon emissions, seeking innovative solutions and reducing energy use through renewable sources. We are also looking to how our products, components and services can enable greater efficiencies while increasing effectiveness.

Prosperity

Prosperity will rest on our ability to create sustainable technology and will include the innovation of new products and technologies that will future-proof our industry. At Leonardo, we will continue to invest in digitalisation and advanced processing capacities to enable us to rise to this challenge.

A very important strand of our sustainability activity will be in supporting and mentoring an ethical supply chain – this doesn’t just increase reliability; it provides us with an opportunity to live out our values through ethical business beyond the walls of our company. We will continue to strengthen our bonds with the local communities in which we operate, making real contributions to their wellbeing, future prospects and prosperity.

Governance

Governance is foundational to the delivery of Leonardo's sustainability strategy, looking at both how we operate and how we integrate the pillars of People, Planet and Prosperity into our business. At Leonardo, our approach to Governance comes from Group Directives that conform to EU, Italian and UK law. The Governance process considers human rights, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, as well as business integrity.

In the UK, our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy and our annual Modern Slavery statement ensure we prevent modern slavery in our value chain, whilst our alignment to the UK Prompt Payment Code ensures we consider the economic sustainability of our supply chain.

Leonardo for Climate Action testifies to our commitment to climate change and illustrates the strategies implemented to counter its effects. It reflect our commitment to climate action, with information about how we evaluate and monitor the risks and opportunities linked to climate change and decarbonisation initiatives.

In the UK, Leonardo is committed to sustainability as a force for business transformation and a driver of our activities. Our sustainability strategy is set across these core pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity and Governance.

Maintaining Leonardo's healthy and productive relationships with all our suppliers is critical to our continued success and operational excellence.

Leonardo is proudly an inaugural signatory of the UK Defence ESG Charter. We are committed to building a stronger, fairer and more prosperous UK, recognising that sustainability is not the responsibility of a single organisation, but an effort requiring collective action.

Leonardo UK has achieved Gold level accreditation for Investors in People's (IIP) 'We Invest in People', 'Investors in Young People' (IIYP) and 'We Invest in Wellbeing', reflecting our commitment to supporting the development of all employees.
