Leonardo is proud to sponsor the Royal Navy Black Cats Helicopter Display Team for 2024. From our historic Yeovil site, Leonardo engineers design, develop, manufacture and support the AW159 Wildcat helicopter.
The AW159 Wildcat is the latest-generation all-weather attack helicopter, capable of autonomous detection, identification and engagement of Land and Maritime targets. The platform has state-of-the-art avionics and mission systems for excellent crew situational awareness; a complete suite of self-protection measures and a range of Anti-Surface and Anti-Submarine Warfare weapons ensure that the AW159 Wildcat can operate in contested environments.
AW159 Wildcat HMA Mk2, as demonstrated by the Black Cats, routinely deploys with Royal Navy Frigates and Destroyers on operations worldwide. Its purpose, as a multi-role helicopter across the full spectrum of military operations, is to provide high-end warfighting capabilities at sea, including Force Protection Maritime to Task Groups. The helicopter also plays key roles around the globe supporting humanitarian aid, disaster relief operations, and search and rescue missions.
The Black Cats Helicopter Display Team provides the opportunity to display this helicopter to the public across the UK and Europe.
