The UK Government’s Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy – 'Global Britain in a Competitive Age' – together with the Defence Command Paper (DCP) and Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS), set out how in partnership with industry, our armed forces can help the UK ‘build back better’ and supports a vision of a ‘Global Britain’.
As part of this review, the publications reaffirm the UK Ministry of Defence commitments to a number of capabilities in which Leonardo in the UK is already playing a leading role including:
- Strategic Partnering Agreement on Rotary Wing future requirements
- Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP)
- Royal Air Force Typhoon Radar 2 (ECRS Mk2)
- Updates and in-service support for Wildcat, Merlin and Apache helicopters
In addition, we look forward to understanding more how our capabilities can further support the cyber and space domains.
Looking to the future, Leonardo is now working to address the requirements of the New Medium Helicopter due to replace the Puma by the middle of the decade and how, in collaboration with UK Government, this and other opportunities could lead to greater export success.
