The move underlines Leonardo’s commitment to engaging its suppliers in meaningful climate action and aligns with its broader decarbonisation ambitions.
Leonardo’s decision to join JOSCAR Zero in the UK reflects a strategic focus on data-driven sustainability. Hellios, a leading provider of supplier data management solutions, will support the company to:
- Increase supplier engagement on decarbonisation and energy security
- Work with suppliers on Science Based Targets (SBTs) to support Leonardo’s own decarbonisation objectives in the UK
- Provide suppliers with tailored carbon action plans
- Improve accuracy in reporting supplier and corporate emissions
JOSCAR Zero offers a shared, defence-specific platform that streamlines carbon reporting and reduction across multiple major buying organisations.
By adopting a common methodology, suppliers only need to submit their data once – saving time and resources. In return, they receive a tailored carbon reduction plan, so they can focus on taking actions which make the biggest impact.
Ben Knight, UK Head of Sustainability, Leonardo, said: "JOSCAR Zero will support our UK suppliers with the tools and resources to decarbonise, build resilience and create shared value for all stakeholders. By truly supporting suppliers to set credible targets and take practical steps forward, we build a collaborative path to decarbonise."
Colin Maund, CEO, Hellios, said: "We’re proud to welcome Leonardo to the growing JOSCAR Zero community. With a shared methodology between buyers, suppliers face less duplication – and the data becomes more comparable, insightful and actionable. This is how real progress gets made."
Leonardo joins other leading defence organisations in adopting JOSCAR Zero, setting a new standard for collective sustainability in a sector dominated by complex supply chains.
