Reflecting on the achievement, Ben Beach, the outgoing Chair of the Charity and Social Committee, and an Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Degree Apprentice, said: “It was a privilege to see and hear how pleased the charities are with our fundraising efforts over the past two years. I am very proud of the team providing our charities with something tangible to help with the incredible work they do in the local area.”
ANDYSMANCLUB is a men’s suicide prevention charity providing free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online. Its mission is to challenge the stigma surrounding men’s mental health by creating a safe, judgement-free environment where men can talk openly or simply listen.
Yeovil Free Wheelers Blood Bikes is a team of emergency volunteers supporting hospitals across Somerset and Dorset. Last year, the charity completed more than 2,653 out-of-hours deliveries, helping transport vital medical items, while saving the NHS more than £200,000.
The Charity and Social Committee will now begin a new fundraising cycle in support of Service Dogs UK and Yeovil Opportunity Group, with events planned to raise funds and awareness for both charities.
Incoming Chair and Procurement Business Graduate, Will Chesterman, said: “I am very proud to be the new Chair. I enjoyed working on the committee over the last year and thank the outgoing committee who have left us in a very positive place. I plan to lead the team in organising events that bring colleagues together from across Leonardo, whilst also creating opportunities to raise money for our brilliant new charities.”
