Leonardo is the UK’s leading defence sensor provider and has been developing products and services for allied armed forces for more than 100 years.
Modern systems are highly dependent on data-driven products to maximise capability and deliver the desired effects and outcomes. Mission Data, and its use to provide battlespace insight, is one of the critical enablers contributing to achieving freedom of manoeuvre and operational advantage.
The requirement for increasingly complex data to support the delivery of enhanced situational awareness and facilitate operational advantage in a multi-domain context is growing exponentially. Secure and assured Mission Data supports decision makers, increases situational awareness, enables freedom of manoeuvre and ultimately increases the probability of mission success and platform survivability.
In the three traditional domains of Maritime, Land and Air, Mission Data is produced by domain specialists from within industry organisations, drawn from UK sovereign capability or from allies and partners. Mission Data for a new operational theatre takes time to develop or refresh and is reliant upon a small cadre of highly skilled analysts with finite capacity. Without central prioritisation, coordination and oversight to ensure consistency of information and assured data quality, the timeliness and accuracy of data can impact operational effectiveness. To address this risk, the Joint Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre (JEWOSC) established the Mission Data for Information Advantage (MD4IA] programme.
Leonardo continues to be a key player in this area, not only supporting the JEWOSC in its MD4IA and partnered-Intelligence Mission Data aspirations, but also as the prime partner in Team NOVUS – a team of Electro Magnetic Spectrum Specialists collaborating in response to the Ministry of Defence’s transformative vision across MD4IA.
Recognised as a world-leading Electronic Warfare (EW) and Mission Data domain specialist, Leonardo has a record of accomplishment in the area of capability delivery – specifically within Integrated Mission Systems, developing multi-domain capabilities that are fully interoperable with partners and allies, capable of conducting full-spectrum operations, leveraging secure and assured data to deliver Information Advantage across the electromagnetic spectrum. Exploiting current and future technologies to deliver enhanced understanding of the operating environment, whilst maximising capabilities, is one of Leonardo’s key drivers supporting their customers in realising their aspirations.
