Leonardo awarded British Safety Council International Safety Award

13 April 2026

Leonardo's UK sites in Basildon, Edinburgh, Luton and Southampton have been awarded a 'Merit' in the 2026 British Safety Council (BSC) International Awards, recognising their commitment to keeping employees and workplaces healthy and safe through 2025.

The BSC is a well-regarded, internationally-recognised organisation, so this award reflects and recognises the important role played by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team across Leonardo.

Commenting on the award, Gemma Wheeler, VP HSE Electronics, Cyber & Automation UK, Leonardo, said: "The award's focus varies each year, with this year’s being 'Wellbeing, Leadership and Communication'. Given the complex differences of processes and activities across the sites, it is a credit to the local teams that they were able to evidence that a strong and robust HSE system is in place at their respective sites.

"I’m very pleased that the hard work of the HSE team and the business has been recognised. It is testament to the company’s commitment to HSE and working together to build a safer, more sustainable environment."
