Since becoming a member of the Association For Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK) in 2021, Leonardo has worked with the organisation to promote understanding and inclusivity among the Leonardo workforce and empower those from diverse ethnic backgrounds, to share their views and explore career opportunities across the business.
Our collaboration with AFBE-UK sees Leonardo:
- Participating in the AFBE Mentoring programme – enrolling by mentors and mentees
- Launching a reverse mentoring programme which sees senior leaders in the UK business learning more about the challenges faced by ethnic minorities
- Working with our People Leaders to support their learning in creating more ethnically diverse teams and team cultures
- Partnering with AFBE in their school engagement programme, ‘Making Engineering Hot’, regularly speaking about careers in engineering at their events
- Contributing to the association’s members webinar and seminar schedule, with Leonardo employees sharing their career experiences
- Joining other AFBE member organisations to share best practice on ethnicity inclusion
- Speaking in the plenary at the annual AFBE conference
- Sponsoring the AFBE Young BME Professional of the Year Award
"Our relationship with Leonardo continues to go from strength to strength.
"The support of partners like Leonardo is vital to promoting the achievements and contributions of minority ethnic communities. It also helps celebrate the vast array of talent that exists within the engineering sector at events such as our annual AFBE Awards and in doing so, to inspire a generation."
Dr Ollie Folayan MBE, Co-Founder of AFBE-UK
