IOS: Delivering today,
planning for tomorrow

Leonardo provides Integrated Operational Support (IOS) for the Wildcat and Merlin helicopter fleets of the UK Armed Forces, as well as the Royal Norwegian Air Force's AW101 SAR helicopters.

From its inception in 1998, Leonardo's IOS concept has continually evolved to meet growing customer expectations around improved operational output, while delivering ever-increasing value-for-money, thanks to reduced through-life costs.

Traditional support contracts have been replaced by fully integrated output-based contracting mechanisms whereby support and delivery risk have been transferred from the Authority to Industry.

The IOS concept has continued to develop over time, and the support boundary between Industry and the Front Line user has expanded, enabling the MOD to meet its aspiration of shifting from the role of 'Provider' to that of 'Decider'.

Success Through Innovation: unlocking Rotary Wing efficiency and resilience

Maintaining platform and equipment availability for military operations is more critical than ever in an increasingly destabilised and changing world. Leonardo Campaign Manager, Dion Martin, considers how successful Integrated Operational Support (IOS) results in improved aircraft availability for Front Line Commands, as well as how closer collaboration between the military and industry can deliver next generation IOS in light of more complex and growing demands on UK and allied armed forces.
