Leonardo's inaugural Future Leaders cohort reflects on its achievements

10 December 2024

Between May and October this year, Leonardo has been working with Future Leaders – a social mobility partner committed to supporting career pathways for young people – to help 25 young women from schools in Luton and North London to help them achieve their career aspirations.

Future Leaders supports young women who aspire to have careers in STEM, providing them with valuable opportunities for growth and development.

The programme with Leonardo was launched in April, and over the following six months saw the students attend a series learning and development activities, work experience and mentoring programmes with engineers and STEM ambassadors at our Luton site.

The partnership with Future Leaders reflects the goals of Leonardo’s Inclusion and Diversity strategy, which confirms the company’s commitment to facilitating social mobility and increasing the number of women throughout its business and across its eight UK sites.

After meeting the first cohort, Leonardo UK Chair and CEO, Clive Higgins, said: "Diversity of thought is absolutely critical to the engineering industry and our sector. We need people to develop the next concepts, ideas and intellectual property that go into our products."

Hear from some from this year’s inspiring cohort as they look back on what this year’s Future Leaders programme with Leonardo has meant to them.
