GCAP’s ISANKE & ICS domain partners welcome three-nation treaty

14 December 2023

The industry champions for defence electronics from the UK, Italy and Japan are pleased to welcome the Convention on the Establishment of the “Global Combat Air Programme - GCAP International Government Organisation (the GIGO)” by their respective nations.

The companies, Leonardo UK representing the UK, Mitsubishi Electric representing Japan, and both Leonardo and ELT Group representing Italy, will deliver GCAP’s ISANKE & ICS domain (Integrated Sensing and Non-Kinetic Effects & Integrated Communications Systems). ISANKE & ICS will provide the GCAP platform and its aircrew with mission-critical information and advanced self-protection capabilities.

The domain partners previously announced the signing of a collaboration agreement back in March at the DSEI Japan exhibition and have been working collectively, both in-person and remotely, throughout 2023. This has led to substantial technical progress in joint concept activities and the partners are working towards agreeing a joint project delivery set-up for the ISANKE & ICS domain.

The new tri-national treaty reflects the strong bonds of collaboration that have been formed between government and industry personnel involved in the programme. In addition, by supporting a range of practical aspects around travel, international working and information sharing, the treaty will support even closer working relationships and enable the next phase of the programme.
