Leonardo’s Digital Twinning and Emulation (DTAE) platform enables the rapid creation and teardown of digital systems and environments that replicate real world solutions, systems and platforms across Defence and CNI. The DTAE platform can replicate any 802.3 (Ethernet) based environment entirely virtually, with the option to also physically connect and integrate both 802.3 and non-802.3 solutions and systems.
The Digital Twinning and Emulation product includes the following services:
- Solution and Device Assurance – Measuring and validating the functional and security resilience of a given solution or device. Any solution or device can be either virtualised within Leonardo’s platform or connected to the platform. This then allows testing within a realistic working environment, without any risk to any real systems.
- Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) Training, Development and Testing – Virtual testing, evolving and teaching teams and individuals in TTP. Any scenario (including defenders, users, and attackers) can be replicated as a digital twin, and reset to a clean state at will. Blue/red teams and individuals can therefore test, evolve and learn TTPs within a safe, isolated space, with no risk of exposure or harm to real systems.
- Capability Research and Development – Virtual measurement and testing of product efficacy in order to enable derisking, product effectiveness and technology readiness level (TRL) maturation. Any environment can be modelled in the platform with a high-level of detail, including use of the actual technology and protocols used, as well as factors such as user behaviour and network traffic. Products can then be developed and tested fully inside this digital twin, with no risk to the real system, and greatly reducing the risk of failures at deployment stage.
- Data Generation – The generation of data from a given environment entirely virtually without data scraping other sources. Any required scenario can be modelled under controlled conditions, and any pertinent behaviour (e.g. user actions, traffic, attacks, errors, environmental) or data be injected. Data can be collected at any point, including network data, system statistics and log files. As it comes from a controlled experiment, the data has known properties and can be used as labelled ground truth for e.g. training AI/ML models or validating existing solutions.
To support different security requirements, Leonardo’s Digital Twinning and Emulation product can be provided entirely on-premise and air-gapped, as well as in hybrid and remote deployments. All DTAE services are supported by highly experienced subjectmatter experts with the appropriate clearances, and all services are delivered in an agile, collaborative manner, according to customer needs.
